Marriage is a lifelong commitment, and like any relationship, it requires effort and work to keep the flame burning. One way to strengthen your bond and reignite the spark is by dating your spouse. Dating is not just for couples in the early stages of their relationship but for married couples as well. In this article, I wanted to provide a few tips on how to date your spouse and keep your marriage strong. It does require a little bit of work, but the little things go a long way. Don’t give up!
Schedule regular date nights:
With busy work schedules and family obligations, it’s easy to forget to prioritize time with your spouse. Make it a habit to schedule regular date nights and stick to them. Whether it’s a romantic dinner at a fancy restaurant or a fun activity like mini-golf, the important thing is that you spend quality time together.
Try something new:
Spice up your date nights by trying something new. It could be a new restaurant, a different activity, or a new hobby. We like trying new spots to eat!
Put away your phones:
When you’re on a date with your spouse, put away your phones and focus on each other. Avoid the temptation to check emails or scroll through social media. This can something be difficult for us since we like to take pictures of the food, etc. 🙂
Remember why you fell in love:
As the years go by, it’s easy to take your spouse for granted and forget why you fell in love in the first place. Take time to reminisce about your early days together and reflect on the qualities that drew you to each other. Rediscovering the things that made you fall in love can reignite the spark in your marriage. Honestly, this is why we started our date nights when the kiddo was still in school.
Show appreciation:
Expressing appreciation and gratitude for your spouse is essential for a healthy marriage. Make it a point to show appreciation for the things your spouse does, both big and small. It could be as simple as thanking them for cooking dinner or telling them how much you appreciate their hard work.
In conclusion, dating your spouse is an essential part of a healthy marriage. By prioritizing regular date nights, trying new things, putting away your phones, remembering why you fell in love, and showing appreciation you can make big-time progress.
